The
Heritage Guild
The objective
of the Guild is to bond with others who
want to share a sense of pride in our church and want to leave behind
a coherent and unique legacy for future generations in the form of archival-quality
albums. We can do this by preserving the past with the help of senior
members, former rectors, and the
Diocese Archivist; and by establishing a tradition of
photo and document preservation.
We are blessed to have the assistance of our very
first rector, Rev. Randall Giddings, with whom I have
received many photos, notes and letters. I also would like to thank
everyone that has helped get the project off the ground and the ECW
and Vestry for funding. Thanks to them, the Guild now has tools and
supplies, and already has an album started, and an impressive inventory
of archives organized.
Our story
starts in the 1940's, with Canterbury Clubs
at UNH and fund-raising drives to aquire property; next we have 1950's-groundbreaking
ceremony.
WE NEED PHOTOS,ETC, FROM 1960-1980!
WE NEED TO REORGANIZE A DETERIORATING ALBUM FROM the 80's and 90's.
WE NEED TO GET READY FOR THE 50th ANNIVERSARY of the DIOCESE in 2002.It
would be nice to have the first 50 years of St. George's in a safe place.
How you
can contribute:
1)Give your TIME and SKILLS to our project of
preserving our archives in acid-free photo-safe albums and files.
2)CORRESPOND with others from St. George's about our various ministries
and outreach programs, past and present, for photos and memorabilia.
3)Bring a CAMERA to you next church related trip or
mission and capture the story on film for our album to stay current.
4)LOOK through your closets for old photos, church
bulletins, newsletters, newspaper clippings, baptism
and other special events in your family.
5)We need childcare at our meetings.
